About

The Middleton Public Library began in 1960 with a collection of donated books that were loaned out by volunteers from City Hall. The library remained in the City Hall until 1973 when it was moved to a former power substation donated to the city by the Idaho Power Company. In 1982 the library moved across the street into what is now known as “the old library,” a former seed mill donated by the Simplot Company. This building served the community well, but with the growth of the city and the increased need for library services, a new building was needed. In 2009-2010, with money allotted to us from the City, money from various fundraisers, and with funds generously donated by patrons, we built a new library that doubled the space we used.
